A lifelong fan of the Seagulls, Sam has been a season ticket holder for many years and aside from being a friendly face amongst the town, he has spent the past few years as head groundsman at Weston Cricket Club.

In December 2023, Sam was appointed Head Groundsman following the retirement of long-serving groundsman Bob Flaskett.
