Since starting this role, it’s been a busy time for the charity, there are so many highlights.

Our youth club The Dugout continues to grow, our friends at Sports Masters Coaching certainly make it fun for our local children. They meet every Monday in the Somerset Suite function room at the club which is provided free of charge.

Our friends Weston Ability provide opportunities for children and adults to play football in the Somerset Ability Counts league, they are absolutely brilliant human beings who are out-and-out winners. They have just started a girls’ team and we’ve heard they may have a future Lioness or two in the team already.

A couple of months ago, we launched football sessions that we hold on a Tuesday, these are provided by Sport In Mind, it’s a chance to have a kick about and a chat. This is growing weekly and is run by myself.

During the summer, we secured funding from the HAF fund which has enabled us to fund ten spaces per day to local children at our fantastic Football Fun Days. Ethan and his team have been amazing and in my opinion are a credit to themselves and the club. Thanks so much to them.

We have also been providing football sessions on the Bournville working with SWAN who are a fantastic organisation, providing summer fun for our local community, activities, trips, fun and food all round.

Earlier this year, Seagulls In The Community were announced as one of The Mayor of Weston’s chosen charities along with our friends at The Monkey Tree Charity, another fantastic local charity. This came as a wonderful surprise. Thank you Mr Mayor!

Moving forward, we are always looking for volunteers, who can help with everything from bid writing to assisting at Weston Carnival that brings in money to the charity and helps our community.

Take Care,
Andy
