1-2

The Seagulls started the stronger out of the two sides with an excellent opening ten minutes, including multiple free kicks that were unable to be converted into chances.

Despite a strong start, Aveley would be the ones to make the breakthrough on 14 minutes, when a speculative effort struck David Kawa and managed to loop over Max Harris in the Weston goal.

As the half went on, Weston searched for an equaliser, which very nearly came through Sam Pearson. His effort was all but in until the defender somehow managed to get a leg to it and clear it off the line!

Half Time: Aveley 1 – 0 Weston-super-Mare AFC

Much like the first half, the Seagulls were hunting for that important goal that could change the tide of the game. Multiple efforts at goal were had, simply just too close to Holden in goal.

Aveley began to grow into the half and if it wasn’t for Harris in the Weston net, it could’ve been a much different game. He was called into action twice, tipping the ball around each post.

Weston would finally get a much deserved equaliser in the 85th minute as Oli Jenkins drove hard down the right wing with Pearson waiting at the back post. A perfectly weighted ball found him, and Pearson was able to stab home!

With the travelling Seagulls in fine voice and Weston with all the momentum, only one team looked like winning.

And win Weston would! In the 90th minute, Coulson picked up the ball on the right-hand side and delivered a tantalising ball across. A dummy from Pearson left Reuben Reid free at the back post to fire home and send the travelling support into delirium.

MOTM: Max Harris – A couple of crucial saves at an important time of the game to keep the Seagulls in it.
