Weston saw an injury-time equaliser against Truro City hit the net, to see the Seagulls draw 1 – 1 away down in Cornwall.

Two changes were made from Saturday’s defeat at home to Eastbourne Borough, with James Dodd and Harvey Greenslade replacing Keiran Thomas and Sam Pearson.

The Seagulls started brightly with Reuben Reid firing over inside the first 60 seconds when being allowed to drive forward, Billy Palfrey saw a wayward shot fail to trouble Max Harris in the Weston goal when taking aim from 25 yards, before Greenslade drove wide when receiving a Dylan Kadji flick centrally 25 yards out.

Tyler Harvey, regular foe to Weston in years gone by, saw a shot from 18 yards blocked by Sam Avery before he saw a free-kick from 25 yards deflect off the wall and go behind for a corner. Will Dean saw a curling attempt from 25 yards caught comfortably by Harris as Truro looked to ramp up some early pressure on the visitors.

Skipper Emlyn Lewis had a header from Luke Coulson’s free-kick held down low by Dan Lavercombe, while down the other end Harvey, Andrew Neal and Connor Riley-Lowe all went close for the Tinners with attempts toward Harris.

Weston were to break the deadlock when Coulson led a charge down the left, feeding Greenslade in behind. The forward outstripped his marker and played a pass across to Reid inside the area, who took a touch to sit Lavercombe down and fire a shot into the roof of the net beyond the covering Truro defenders.

In the second period, Weston started the brighter with Reid having an attempt deflect behind after being rolled in behind by Kadji’s slide-rule pass. From Coulson’s resulting corner, Avery saw his free header at the back post headed off the line as Scott Bartlett’s side looked for the all-important second.

Ollie Chamberlain rolled a shot into Lavercombe’s arms following a one-two with Reid, before Coulson saw a 25-yard free-kick deflect wide of the target. Truro substitute Jaze Kabia saw a cross deflect into the path of Palfrey, whose shot narrowly bounced past Harris’ post.

Greenslade had a chance to seal it inside injury-time when Coulson darted down the left and squared it across to the loanee, who controlled and fired over the bar from inside the area.

The hosts were to level things with virtually the last kick of the game, when Dom Johnson-Fisher wriggled past his man on the right wing and pulled a cross back for the incoming Palfrey, who stayed composed to fire in on his left foot from 12 yards and tie the game.

Weston now go again against Chippenham Town on New Years Day, who will be looking to bounce back from their 3 – 0 defeat against Bath City this afternoon.
