Weston extended their unbeaten run to 11 games at Park View Road as they beat Welling United 3-1.

Welling were to take the lead two minutes into the game through some individual brilliance.

Anointed Chukwu collected the bar inside the Weston half and drove forward, evading four Weston players to then calmly slot the ball home.

Weston began to grow frustrated as they looked for a way back into the game but a physical Welling side was putting a stop to that.

The equaliser did however come from a set-piece on 35 minutes. An inch perfect James Dodd cross was met by the head of Reuben Reid who powered home from six yards out.

Just two minutes later, Weston were in dreamland as the referee pointed to the penalty spot after a handball from Dave Winfield.

Coulson stepped up comfortably and expertly nestled his penalty into the bottom right corner.

Half Time: Welling United 1-2 Weston-super-Mare AFC

The second half started much as the first ended with Weston very much in control and playing some excellent football.

The physical contest continued but Weston were proving now that they were more than a match for this in the middle of the park and continued to win their battles.

In the 71st minute Coulson made sure there would be no doubt about the result. An aerial ball from Billy Kirkman set Coulson free behind the back line to simply poke the ball through the legs of Lovett for 3-1.

The Seagulls then would ensure they grinded out a well deserved 3 points by defending resolutely and not backing out of a challenge.

Despite nearly 10 additional minutes there would be no change to the score and Weston find themselves in second place of the National League South, ahead of the FA Cup weekend.
