Weston fought for another 3 points at the Optima Stadium but stern resistance from Dorking meant the spoils were shared with a 1-1 draw.

Weston started in a flash and could’ve been 1-0 up within the first 2 minutes. 2 goal line clearances and a penalty shout would come to no avail.

Dorking then went straight down the other end and cut through Weston like a hot knife through butter leaving Charlie Carter at the back post to slot home to make it 1-0 to the away side.

The first half continued without much further event as Weston grew into the game, looking more and more comfortable and starting to carve out half chances.

On 43 minutes Weston got their reward when some excellent play from Reuben Reid as he controlled with his chest, beat his man and squared across to Dylan Morgan who poked home for 1-1.

Half-Time: Weston-super-Mare AFC 1-1 Dorking Wanderers

The second half started much as the first ended with Weston looking strong and the more likely side to score. Luke Coulson and Dylan Morgan were going to be the key if Weston were to take 3 points.

Both looked threatening all half as they consistently beat their man and delivered inviting crosses into the box that just couldn’t be turned home.

The game appeared to heading for an easy stalemate but on 84 minutes Josh Brooking hauled down Morgan and as the last man was correctly shown a red card, much to the delight of the home support.
