Gary Warren, the Club’s Head of Academy, will continue to act as Interim Assistant Manager. We are working with Gary to make sure that these roles work hand in hand, with the aim of making this a permanent arrangement.
Scott Rogers has been with the Club since July 2023 as Assistant Manager to Scott Bartlett. He’s previously held managerial roles with Tiverton Town and Willand Rovers, where he amassed over 200 games in the hot seat at Southern League and Western League level.
Scott has been in interim charge for the past two games and will now manage his first official game as Men’s First-Team Manager on Saturday as Weston hosts Needham Market in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.
On his appointment, Scott said:
“I’m really looking forward to it.
“Oli spoke to me about the opportunity of possibly managing the team here, I slept on it for a few nights and with the bunch of lads, I’m not going to get a better chance to manage a really good football side.
“They’ve allowed me to bring Gary in and Adie and with the staff already here, it stands us in really good shape”.
Adie Britton has been with the club since the summer, acting in an advisory role to Bartlett and Rogers throughout the opening months of the season. The Club are now delighted to formalise his position as Technical Director.
Adie will be tasked with recruitment, scouting, and contract negotiation, and will continue to support Rogers at the helm of the Seagulls.
Adie has a wealth of experience throughout non-league, having managed Welton Rovers in the Western League through the late 1990s. He was the Assistant Manager at Swindon Supermarine, Cinderford Town and Merthyr Tydfil before taking up the same post at Bath City. He later became manager of the Romans and helped them win promotion in the National League South 2010 playoffs, before becoming their Director of Football in 2012 enjoying a four-year spell in the role. He has most recently served as a scout for Football League side Cheltenham Town.
On formally joining the club, Adie said:
“I became interested in the project here through talking to both Scotts in the summer.
“We spoke about the journey the club have been on over the past couple of years which I was well aware of, to a degree.
“The players and everyone in the club have made me really welcome, I’ve been quite taken aback and I’m really appreciative of it.
“The players are really receptive, they listen and the work-rate is second to none”.
Gary Warren, the Club’s Head of Academy, will continue to act as Interim Assistant Manager. We are working with Gary to make sure that these roles work hand in hand, with the aim of making this a permanent arrangement. It has always been the ambition to strengthen the link between the first team and academy which has improved over the last few years, but this will take it to the next level. We will provide an update about this role over the coming weeks.
Oli Bliss, Weston-super-Mare AFC Chairman, said:
“The Board of Directors have been busy working on the management structure as soon as Scott Bartlett moved on. We knew that Scott Rogers was the right person to become the Manager, but we also needed to make sure that he had the right people around him so the management team was the complete package.
“Scott has been at the club for over two years now and has been a great addition to the club. He understands how we want to play, what we are trying to achieve, and most importantly, he works well with our existing squad.
“Gary Warren comes with a wealth of experience, especially in his leadership roles as captain at most clubs he’s played at. Scott and Gary have a very good working relationship. We will provide another update once Gary’s role has been finalised.
“To support both of them in their roles we have now made Adie Britton an official club appointment as he takes on the new role of Technical Director. Although Scott has managed previously, we understand that this is a big role and Scott and Gary are young in these positions, so Adie will be very important in bringing his experience and knowledge.
“We are very excited to have this management team in place and thank the players and supporters for bearing with us whilst we made sure that we are in a strong position to keep pushing this club forward.
“Our squad is full of top-quality players and is very stable – We are in a great position. I will be working with the management team to further strengthen the squad over the coming weeks.”
Everybody at Weston-super-Mare AFC would like to congratulate Scott and Adie on their appointments. We encourage all supporters to come down to watch us against Needham Market tomorrow afternoon in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round.
