Scott Rogers’ side head to Beveree Stadium in great spirits following last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Needham Market in the FA Cup, in what was his first game officially in charge. Louis Britton grabbed his ninth goal of the season to set up next month’s home tie with Aldershot Town in the First Round proper.
Weston are currently second in the National League South table, and Saturday’s hosts Hampton have also had a promising start to their league campaign. Despite being tipped by some to struggle this season, The Beavers are currently in seventh position. Like Weston, Hampton have only lost two league games and have picked up some excellent wins, particularly their home victories over Dagenham and Ebbsfleet, plus good wins on the road at Dorking Wanderers and Merthyr in the FA Cup.
Borough were also in FA Cup action last Saturday as they welcomed Eastleigh to the Beveree. However, Scott Bartlett’s new side won 2-0 to dump Hampton out of the cup.
In last season’s corresponding fixture, it finished 0-0 at the Beveree last December in a Tuesday night game played under the lights, before Weston beat Hampton 3-1 in the return fixture at the Optima Stadium.
Emlyn Lewis opened the scoring for Weston, before Sam Pearson doubled the lead on the stroke of half-time. Zanda Siziba reduced the arrears with twenty minutes to go, but top-scorer Luke Coulson ensured The Seagulls picked up all three points with his last-minute penalty.
Weston will head to the outskirts of London seeking their first win at Hampton since February 2017, when a goal in each half from Jake Lee and Brad Ash earned a 2-0 win for Bartlett’s side.
