The Seagulls will arrive in Dorset having won seven National League South games in a row, and are now ten games unbeaten in both the league and the FA Cup. Last Saturday, in what turned out to be his final game as manager of the club, Scott Bartlett led his side to a 1-0 win over Chesham United at the Optima Stadium, after Louis Britton’s late penalty, his eighth goal of the season, earned all three points and kept The Seagulls in second place.
Bartlett’s assistant-manager, Scott Rogers, will now take charge of the side at BlackGold Stadium this Saturday.
Poole Town have also had a decent start to their Southern League Premier South season and are currently seventh in the table, their last game was a 0-0 draw at Hungerford Town last Saturday.
The South Coast side are managed by both Joe Lea and Pat Suraci, meaning that this is the second Saturday in a row that Weston have played a team with joint-managers.
The Dolphins entered the FA Cup at the First Qualifying Round, where they beat Didcot Town after a replay, before an impressive 3-0 victory at league rivals Gosport Borough in the Second Qualifying Round.
Weston, of course, entered at the Second Qualifying Round where they beat Taunton Town after a replay. This now means that it has been nearly two years since The Seagulls have been drawn at home in the FA Cup, and have been drawn away from home for the sixth successive time.
The Seagulls last played The Dolphins in the 2022/23 championship-winning campaign in the Southern League, as Bartlett’s side claimed an impressive double over the Dorset outfit, a 3-1 victory at BlackGold Stadium in August 2022, and a 2-0 home win in the reverse fixture in November 2022.
