Following the two FA Cup games against Taunton Town, it’s a welcome return to league action for The Seagulls, who are currently perched nicely at second place in the early table.

Weston defeated The Peacocks 3-0 in Tuesday night’s replay after Louis Britton took his tally for the season to seven following his brace, and Luke Coulson’s free-kick with the last kick of the game, a carbon copy of the goal he scored at Dorking Wanderers last season.

That midweek scoreline means it is now three games running that The Seagulls have won by three goals to nil at the Optima Stadium.

Saturday’s visitors, Chesham, won their first two games of the season after victories at Maidenhead and at home to Farnborough, but have since gone six games without a win in National League South, but drawing four of them, demonstrating what a difficult team The Generals are to beat.

It ended all-square the last time.the two sides met at the Optima in March. Coulson gave Weston the lead before an Alex Lafleur equaliser meant it finished 1-1 against the side jointly managed by James Duncan and Michael Murray.

Both Weston and Chesham have enjoyed very similar journeys in recent seasons, with many close encounters along the way, and Saturday’s game may well follow a similar path.
