Scott Bartlett’s side are in great form, unbeaten in five games and winning the last four of those National League South fixtures, the latest victory being Saturday’s 3-0 home success over Dagenham & Redbridge at a rainy Optima Stadium.
It was a hugely impressive performance from The Seagulls’ squad, as second-half goals from Louis Britton and Sam Pearson, plus an own goal, wrapped up the three points to move Weston up to second in the table.
It’s yet another tough test though for Weston, as Maidstone are one of only two sides who remain unbeaten in the league so far, although The Stones have drawn four of their six games.
The Kent side were forced to settle for just a point again following Saturday’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Worthing.
Maidstone led 2-0 on the South Coast after goals from Dajon Golding and TJ Bramble.. However, the Sussex hosts fought back and made it 2-2, but Maidstone took the lead in second-half injury-time through Josh Redfearn to surely seal the win. However, Worthing equalled the score even later in the added-on time as The Stones squandered their advantage again.
It was also the third time in Maidstone’s six games that they have conceded a goal after the 90th minute.
Manager George Elokobi was clearly frustrated at full-time and will be looking for a response against Weston this midweek.
It all makes for another quality game of football at the Optima, as The Seagulls look to continue with their great form.
