It was a wonderful Saturday for Weston as they reached the Second Round proper of the FA Cup for only the second time in the club’s history, after the fantastic 2-1 after extra-time victory over Aldershot Town.

Goals from Welshmen Emlyn Lewis and James Waite secured the memorable win against the National League outfit, with Lewis joining his compatriot Lee Jarman in being the only two Weston captains to lead the sides in First Round proper victories.

Attention now turns to league action at Hemel’s Vauxhall Road ground this Tuesday. The Tudors were also in FA Cup First Round action on Saturday, and they too went to extra-time after an excellent 1-1 draw at Wigan Athletic. With the sides still not separated after 120 minutes, it went to penalties and Lee Allinson’s side were sadly knocked out by five penalties to three. Joe White had equalised for Hemel from the penalty spot during regular time against the side three leagues above them.

It’s been a good season so far for The Tudors who are currently fifth in the National League South table. Like Weston, Hemel have conceded just nine goals from their 13 games this season, the joint-fewest in the league.
