The Seagulls head to the East Sussex coast looking to get back to winning ways following Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat at Hemel Hempstead Town, which came so shortly after the thrilling FA Cup First Round win over Aldershot Town.
Saturday’s hosts, Eastbourne Borough, are currently second from bottom of the National League South table, but results have picked up a little lately, particularly since the return of Tommy Widdrington as manager.
In his first game back at Priory Lane, Eastbourne won 1-0 at Maidenhead United, which was coincidentally The Sports’ first league victory of the season. Since then, Eastbourne have also won on the road at Enfield Town.
With both of Eastbourne’s two wins coming on their travels, this means that their last home league victory was the 3-0 win over Weston on the final day of last season.
Borough were also in action on Tuesday night and were at home to Dagenham & Redbridge. Despite taking the lead, Eastbourne were undone by two set-piece goals from corners and eventually lost 2-1 as Andy Carroll scored the winner.
