After returning to pre-season training and spending a few days at their Portugal training camp, Weston return to match action with the short journey to South Gloucestershire.

While this is Weston’s first friendly ahead of a brand-new National League South season, Thornbury have already played one pre-season fixture following Saturday’s game at Tytherington Rocks. After a 1-1 draw, Thornbury won on penalties to claim the inaugural Worsley Travell Cup.

Thornbury are in the Hellenic Premier League and are managed by Weston Opposition Analyst, Richard Joyce. As well as being a vital member of Scott Bartlett’s backroom team, ‘Joycie’ led his side to a more than respectable mid-table finish in Step 5 last season.

Thornbury were helped by taking some of Weston’s younger players on loan during 2024/25. Louis Singfield, Zak Kempster and Leighton Green all spent valuable game time playing regular men’s football, with all three impressing before returning to The Seagulls and playing hugely significant parts in helping us win the Somerset Premier Cup.
