Ian has served as Walking Football Secretary and has been part of Weston’s walking football setup since 2019.
Speaking about his new role, Ian said:
“I’m incredibly proud to take on the role of Head of Walking Football.
I’d like to thank Oli Bliss and the club for giving me the chance to lead this fantastic part of the club.
There’s still so much potential here, and I see lots of opportunities for further team success and organic growth – both in terms of participation and expanding our sessions even further.”
Chairman Oli Bliss added:
“I am pleased that we have been able to appoint such a strong successor to Lach (Geddes), Weston-super-Mare AFC Walking Football is renowned as one of the best in the country.
Ian is going to be supporting all of the teams to ensure that they continue to dominate the sport, whilst working very hard on expanding our non competitive side that is open to all ages of women and men.
Ian is already showing his desire to drive the walking football forward and I will work closely with him to help him achieve this.”
Walking Football at Weston-super-Mare AFC is open to players aged 50 and above, offering a fun, inclusive, and sociable way to stay active while enjoying the beautiful game.
